While so much work has been happening already, there is still much more input to be collected to help us formulate a unified plan for our district’s future. We are equally pleased to be able to bring Mr. DiCarlo back to our district, where he served as our interim principal at Kent Elementary School over the summer and the beginning of the school year. After a short break between roles, Mr. DiCarlo is officially at the helm of Carmel High School, and we are thrilled to have him back with us again.

To our Carmel parents and guardians, thank you for sharing your children with us and allowing us to help them grow every day. Our district has spectacular students and that stems from you as parents and guardians. Your support, partnership, and active involvement in your child’s educational journey are a testament to our shared desire for success for each district student.

8:30AM-9:30AMFamilies First of PBC Board of Directors Meeting
The tradition continued for third-grade students at Matthew Paterson Elementary School this year with the annual Thanksgiving Celebration. For more than 45 years, third-grade students and teachers have been gathering for a fun-filled day of seasonal activities, academic lessons, crafts, food and more – and this year was no different. Throughout November, for Native American Heritage Month, several elementary and middle school classes had the opportunity to learn more about the traditions and way of life of the native people who inhabited, and still live in, our local areas. Idaho Falls School District 91 is committed to providing a workplace and educational environment, as well as other benefits, programs, and activities, which are free from sex and gender-based harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Idaho Falls School District does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities and provides equal access to all individuals. Thank you to all the parents, patrons and staff who responded to the Board of Trustees' call for ideas on how to address overcrowding and safety issues in our schools after the failure of the recent bond effort.

My hope is to provide an informal setting and refreshments for open dialogue on select topics during the year. I have scheduled three of these in-person meetings and hope that you will make plans to join me on November 1, February 15 and May 30. On behalf of Carmel Central School District and its administration, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Please note that participation is not on a first-applied, first-picked basis. We strive to have our focus groups represent all aspects of our community, so participants will be chosen to ensure a variety of voices.
We look forward to continuing to work with you in new ways to ensure that continued success. As you know, Carmel Central School District collaborates closely with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department to place School Resource Officers in our District schools. We greatly value our working relationship with the Sheriff’s Department and are so appreciative of the assistance that our trained SROs provide to ensure and maintain a safe educational environment for our students and staff in our school buildings. The Salt Lake City School District knows that many of our students and families are struggling with intensely personal questions, concerns, and fears about the national landscape regarding immigration. The Sumter School District is committed to providing a rigorous and relevant standards-based education in a safe environment.
Congratulations to the latest student-inductees to Carmel High School's chapter of the New York State Business Honor Society. This year, the Career & Technical Education Department inducted 10 high-achieving students and one honorary member, Assistant Principal John Fratto. Before we officially depart for the summer break, I would like to take this opportunity to share a few messages of appreciation and congratulations.
The award is presented to outstanding doctoral students pursuing careers in educational leadership, with leadership emphasis on the superintendency. The district hired two architecture firms to conduct feasibility studies at West High and Highland High. In looking at future of these two schools, the district hopes to prioritize a high quality of education for all students and to recognize the rich heritage in these school communities. District schools will be open on all regularly scheduled school days unless circumstances create health or safety issues.

We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to our buildings for the first day of the school year later this week. As a reminder, Thursday, September 1, will be a full day of school for our students in grades 1-12, and a modified school day for our incoming kindergarten students with an orientation and bus run. Detailed information about the schedule for the incoming kindergarten students was emailed directly from the elementary schools’ principals.
